Female missionary charged with sexual assault of girl, 15

A 26-year-old missionary from the Philippines who was reported missing in Honolulu earlier this month has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl. Kristina Angeles was reported missing after failing to return to the Kingdom of Jesus Christ in Waipahu on Jan. 30. Angeles, whose visa was set to expire in April, was arrested at the Pearl City police station on Thursday morning.

HPD chief assessed as above average in review

For the third year in a row, the Police Commission determined Kealoha exceeds expectation in his annual review. ~~ Honolulu Police Chief Louis Kealoha's handling of an incident involving an off-duty officer captured on video punching a woman at a Waipahu restaurant may have negatively affected his annual review, but the Honolulu Police Commission still rated his 2014 performance as above average.

Tunnel and freeway lane closures start Friday night

Cement pours, road repairs, rail construction and tunnel maintenance will again close lanes on the H-1 freeway and Likelike Highway this weekend. Likelike Highway will close in the Kaneohe-bound direction near the Wilson tunnel from 7 p.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday while crews clean the tunnel and do routine maintenance work.

Starting Monday, rail construction and road reconstruction will close lanes on the H-1 freeway and Kamehameha Highway between Waipahu and Kalihi.
